Scholastic Awards alumni go on to do incredible things! Read news about notable alumni below:

• Tschabalala Self ‘08 has unveiled Lady in Blue, a new sculpture commissioned for the Fourth Plinth display in London’s Trafalgar Square, one of the UK’s most prominent public art commissions.

• Branden Jacobs-Jenkins ‘00-01 will premiere Grass, a new play commissioned by the Park Avenue Armory and National Black Theatre. The production debuts in February 2027 and marks the latest work from the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright.

• Kinsale Drake ’17 received an American Book Award for Beyond the Glittering World: An Anthology of Indigenous Feminisms and Futurisms, a collection she co-edited celebrating Indigenous voices across genres.

• Joyce Carol Oates ’56 is featured in The New Yorker‘s “This Week in Fiction,” discussing her latest short story, “Lost Child,” and the memories that inspired it.

• Emi Nietfeld ’10 recently published a New York Times guest essay, “Gen Z Fell Out of Love With Work. I Don’t Blame Them,” examining how younger generations are redefining ambition, success, and work-life balance.
