Scholastic Art & Writing Awards alumni go on to do incredible things! Read news about notable alumni below:

• Njari Anderson ’19, Luke Hodges ’11, Marjan Kamali, and James Wells ’01 appeared on a panel, moderated by Ester Petukhova ’18/’19, during this year’s Awards Week to discuss their respective creative careers and how the Scholastic Awards impacted their professional journeys up until now. • Gagosian Beverly Hills has announced that it will present a retrospective of Richard Avedon’s ’41 photographs later this year titled Richard Avedon: Hollywood. The exhibition will explore the culture of Hollywood through Avedon’s portraits of its key figures, examining the dynamics of fame and power in the entertainment industry.
• This past spring, alum and current Alliance for Young Artists & Writers board member Derek Fordjour ’92 debuted three new painted bronze sculptures at the High Line in New York City. The sculptures depict Black figures embodying the tension and expectations placed upon various careers that were historically viewed as pathways to upwards mobility in the African American experience. The sculptures are presented alongside Backbreaker Double, Fordjour’s mural that was installed also on the High Line last December.  
• Richard Linklater ’78 is set to direct the upcoming feature film autobiography of the New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig, starring Glen Powell and produced by Lorne Michaels.
