  • Congratulations to Carolina Ixta ‘12 on publishing her first YA novel, Shut Up, This Is Serious! This fierce, intimate examination of friendship, chosen family, and the generational cycles we must break to become our truest selves is out now. 
  • Well before Truman Capote became one of America’s most famous writers, he won a Scholastic Award as a teen around 1936. Learn about the real history behind the writer and Ryan Murphy’s “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans” series in this Smithsonian Magazine article. 
  • Celebrated designer Zac Posen ‘98 has been named Executive Vice President, Creative Director of Gap Inc. and the Chief Creative Officer of Old Navy. Recently he has also recreated some of the gowns worn in “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans”—an unexpected Scholastic Awards alumni crossover! Learn more about both endeavors in this Vogue piece.  
  • Loretta Lopez’s ‘09-10 debut novel, City Girls, will hit shelves on Tuesday, April 9, 2024! City Girls was inspired by the lives of the girls Loretta has worked with at The Brave House, a non-profit offering holistic services to immigrant girls. Part of the book’s proceeds will support their mission—preorder the middle-grade novel here.  
  • Leslie Sainz ’18 has debuted a poetry collection giving a voice to the Cuban experience on the island and in the United States. Learn more about the poet’s journey and “Have You Been Long Enough at Table” in this HipLatina article
  • Sac, Cyst, Satchel, an exhibition of new wall-based and freestanding sculptures by Matthew Ronay ‘93, will be on view at Casey Kaplan Gallery in New York City from Thursday, March 7 through Saturday, April 13, 2024.  
  • Alumni Delali Ayivor ‘11 and Sasha Baskin ‘10 participated in the Awards’ virtual panel “Get Your Work Out There: How to Get Promoted, Published, and Exhibited” last month. Watch a recording of the informative panel here.
