Teen Editorial Cartoonists Receive The Herblock Award for Editorial Cartoon

The Herblock Award for Editorial Cartoon, sponsored by The Herb Block Foundation, was created to celebrate the legacy of four-time Pulitzer Prize–winning cartoonist Herb Block. This award recognizes three students who exhibit exceptional skill in editorial cartooning in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and provides each student with a $1,000 scholarship.

From the politics around Covid-19 to immigration policies to environmental issues, this year’s recipients created powerful pieces of artwork that offered insightful commentaries on the current events affecting all of us.

The 2022 recipients of The Herblock Award for Editorial Cartoon are:

Ava Fong, Princeton, NJ
Asya Sozen, Cazenovia, NY
Polina van Hulsen, Palo Alto, CA

Congratulations to these talented teens!
