Art & Writing @ Night, our annual benefit for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, was held at Tribeca Three-Sixty on May 10. The night featured artwork on display from our Alums and current students, as well as remarks from Alum and artist Philip Pearlstein, and an improvised keynote from actor Bill Irwin and Alum Madeleine LeCesne.

One of the night’s highlights was a video featuring students who received awards in the 2016 Scholastic Awards. They came to the Scholastic Inc. office to share what receiving an award for their creative efforts means to them and why recognizing creative teens is so important.

This year’s proceeds will go toward supporting our student exhibition program, Art.Write.Now., a collection of the best art and writing submitted to the Scholastic Awards by teens from across the nation.

If you weren’t able to join us at Art & Writing @ Night, you can still offer your support of Art.Write.Now. by texting your name and pledge amount to 347-934-4342.

You can view the best student works on June 2-12 in New York City! The Art.Write.Now.2016 National Exhibition features more than 600 pieces of teen art and writing from the 2016 Scholastic Awards and will be on display at:

Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons School of Design at The New School
66 Fifth Avenue at 13th Street

and

Pratt Institute’s Pratt Manhattan Gallery
144 West 14th Street, 2nd Floor

Starting next fall, selected works will be chosen for the Art.Write.Now.Tour, a traveling exhibition of student art and writing. Stay tuned to our blog for 2016-17 Tour dates and locations!

And take note, we’ll be sharing Philip Pearlstein’s full remarks this Friday so please stay tuned!
