For more than a decade, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers published student art and writing in the National Catalog and The Best Teen Writing. This year, we’ve decided to change things up. We now have three publications to showcase our students: Yearbook 2019, The Best Teen Writing, and The Best Teen Art.
Yearbook 2019
The Yearbook contains the 2019 National Medalists list, information about our many programs, including workshops, the National Student Poets Program, and the GOLDEN Educators Residency, as well as the names of our partner organizations and supporters. It’s useful as a look back at the 2019 program year to see the full scope of the Scholastic Awards.
You can listen to Natascha Belt discuss her work, Adam and Thomas in Red and Blue (Photography. Grade 10, Mary McDowell Friends School, Brooklyn, NY), on the cover of this year’s yearbook.
The Best Teen Art of 2019
The Best Teen Art was created to showcase more student artwork. It features works from Gold and Silver Medalists, along with sections focusing on the Gold Medal Portfolio recipients and the Special Achievement Award recipients. All of the works in The Best Teen Art were selected from National Medalists in the 2019 Scholastic Awards. If you’re interested in seeing what’s on the minds of today’s teens, then be sure to check it out!
You can listen to Jason Hong discuss his work, Room (Drawing & Illustration. Grade 12, Peachtree Ridge High School, Suwanee, GA), which was published in this year’s Best Teen Art.
The Best Teen Writing of 2019
Our annual writing anthology, The Best Teen Writing, continues with a new crop of writing by National Medalists in the 2019 Scholastic Awards. From poetry to humor, personal essay to journalism, we’ve collected some of the best works submitted this year. Teens have a lot to say about the world around them, and The Best Teen Writing is the place to hear them.
You can listen to Julianna Reidell discuss her work, Love with Romeo and Juliet: A Parody (Humor. Grade 10. Jenkintown High School, Jenkintown, PA), which was published in this year’s Best Teen Writing.
You can learn more about these and our other publications on our website, where we post downloadable PDFs of previous years’ publications.
