The Scholastic Awards partner with Neiman Marcus to offer two special awards: the Neiman Marcus Award for Fashion and the Neiman Marcus Award for Jewelry. These awards are given to two students with outstanding works in the Fashion and Jewelry categories, along with a $1,000 scholarship.
We’re proud to announce the 2017 award recipients:
Kimlan Pham, Neiman Marcus Award for Jewelry recipient
Kimlan’s inventive necklace is made of brass and nickel. The piece measures approximately two inches wide and features a rain cloud and two bolts of lightning. The lightning bolts can be tucked inside of the cloud, allowing the wearer to reflect their mood, perhaps, or match the actual weather. When tucked in, the bolts are still visible through a small cutout.
Bin Quan, Neiman Marcus Award for Fashion recipient
Bin’s unique dress is made of heavy linen and embroidery thread. The sleeves wrap around the waist and become the train, which features an open letter from Bin stitched directly onto the material. The letter, addressed to “Whom It May Concern,” deals with Bin’s family relationships and personal identity.
