The 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards introduced new scholarship opportunities and a new category: Editorial Cartoon sponsored by The Herb Block Foundation. Hundreds of students submitted work, and three students were selected to receive The Herblock Award for Editorial Cartoon and a scholarship of $1,000. This Award celebrates the legacy of four-time Pulitzer Prize–winning political cartoonist Herb Block and his remarkable contribution to American history and free expression.

We’d like to congratulate the first recipients of this award: Kaitlyn Quatch, Ryan Sunada-Wong, and Sherrill Zheng!
