Winter Tangerine Review at the Poets House!

Winter Tangerine Review, Volume 1
Winter Tangerine Review, Volume 1

To kick off summer, Winter Tangerine Review will be holding a poetry reading at the Poets House as part of its “Poets in NYC” Summer Reading Series! Winter Tangerine Review is a print literary & arts journal founded by Yasmin Belkhyr, an eight-time Scholastic medalist and student in NYC. WTR is dedicated to publishing evocative, electric poetry, prose, dramatic writing, visual art and short films.

The event will feature National Student Poet Sojourner Ahebee, three-time medalist Alexa Derman, Gold Senior Portfolio winners Jackson Trice and Hanel Baveja, and poets Shinji Moon, Melissa Cundieff-Pexa, Rebecca Kerr, Sarah LeWarn, and Gabriel Cabera.

There will be amazing poetry, hummus, guacamole, cookies, and a killer view of the Hudson River. The event will be at the NYC Poets House (10 River Terrace New York, NY, 10282) on June 7th from 6:30PM-8:30PM.

Admission is free for all 2014 Scholastic medalists who wear their medals to the event! Congratulations on your achievement! For parents and other nonmedalists, the cover is $9 and goes towards rental costs and refreshments. We greatly appreciate the support.

Winter Tangerine Review is a literary journal dedicated to the electric. To the salt. The sugar. We want bitter honey, expired sweets. We want catalysts. We want raw, aggressive, violently soft. We want the pieces that leave sawdust in your mouth, the pieces that disintegrate your enamel, that strike matches against your palm. Over the past year, we have received over 4500 submissions from extraordinarily talented writers and artists. All work is considered blindly – it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or how you go to us; we want your artistry, your emotions, we want you to make us feel. So leave your artistic boundaries behind. They won’t be necessary here.

We will have copies of Volume One and Two available at the event, and there will opportunities to have your copy signed by the poets who wrote the pieces in them.

This event is made possible in part by the Poets House Literary Partner’s Program.
