Did you know April is National Poetry Month? National Poetry Month has been celebrated since being established by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. Nonprofits, libraries, businesses and more partake through events and celebrations across the country. This year, we’re commemorating the month by asking YOU (yes, you!) to contribute to our poem.
Every day, we’ll be asking you to contribute a line of poetry of no more than 140 characters based on our word of the day. You can send us your line either on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ScholasticArtandWritingAwards) or Twitter (http://twitter.com/artandwriting). At the end of the month of April, we’ll combine every line submitted into one piece of poetry. The poem will be published right here on our blog, and we’ll also list all of our participants! We hope you all take part in this participatory poetry project.
