Alumni News January/February 2026

Scholastic Awards alumni go on to do incredible things! Read news about notable alumni below:

Monument Lab, led by Senior Curator and Scholastic Awards alumna Yolanda Wisher ’91, has been awarded one of 44 yearly grants from the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. With this grant, the Philadelphia-based non-profit public art, history, and design studio will generate three new environmental soundworks that collectively constitute a living monument to Philadelphia’s bird ecosystems. More information about the project can be found on the Pew Center’s website here

Zac Posen ’98 was announced as the Designer of the Year at the 50th American Image Awards, hosted by the American Apparel & Footwear Association. Posen currently serves as the Creative Director of Gap Inc. and the Chief Creative Officer for Old Navy, spearheading some of the past year’s most viral campaigns.

Robert Redford ’54, Scholastic Awards alumnus and founder of the Sundance Institute, was honored at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this month after his passing in September of last year. Echoing the ethos of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Redford and the Sundance Institute worked tirelessly to nurture young creative talent by providing grants, accelerator programs, and screening opportunities for filmmakers in the earliest stages of their careers. At the Sundance Gala, actor and director Ethan Hawke said of Redford: “He championed other people. The fact that he had time to care about all of us is so meaningful.”
