Scholarships and Cash Awards

Portal Updates

We’ve worked hard this summer to improve the portal. Teens and educators should have an easier entry process this year. Most of the updates have been “under the hood,” but there’s a few more obvious changes we’re excited to announce!

But before that, don’t forget to update your own account! When logging in to the portal, be sure your school, personal details, and contact information are all up to date. Teens will also need to get Parent/Guardian permission for the new entry season, even if they did so last year.

Educator Regions

Educators can now connect to schools and students across multiple regions. After selecting a school or OEP during account creation, educators will be able to add additional programs to their account from their “School” tab.

If an educator connects to programs in multiple regions, they will be able to toggle between viewing each region’s details, and their students in that region, using the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of their dashboard—identical to how educators moved between their art and writing regions last year.

Teens and educators still need to have the same school or OEP attached to their account to connect.

Educator Dashboard

The educator dashboard has been updated to include an expandable menu. We hope this tool helps educators better navigate their account and locate the information they need!

Virtual Students

Students in virtual schools will no longer be put in the same region as their school. They will be assigned a region based on their home zip code.

Category Updates

Each year, we modify some of the category descriptions and guidelines, using feedback from students, educators, and jurors, to make them clearer. Be sure to review the complete list of categories before entering your work.

In particular, the Editorial Cartoon category will once again accept animated films. Show us your best political commentary!
