Alumni News for March 2023 

Scholastic Awards alumni go on to do incredible things! Read news about notable alumni below: 

  • Now on view at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, our Affiliate Partner, is Tommy Kha: Eye is Another, which is a site-specific, photography-based installation by  Tommy Kha ‘06. The artist was also recently profiled in The New York Times.  
  • From 1969 to 1971, Richard Avedon ‘41 made some of the largest photographs ever printed, which are now on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition, Murals.  
  • Amanda Gorman ‘15-16 announced that she has written her second children’s book, Something, Someday, which will be released this fall.  
  • On February 28, the Scholastic Awards Alumni Advisory Council hosted a virtual panel on how to channel creative passion into a career path. Watch a recording of the panel and learn from four Awards alumni who are leaders in their respective fields: Genevieve Martin ‘02, Sarah Nerboso ‘99, Kevin Spall ‘84, and James Wells ’01.  
  • Graphic Designer Michael Bierut ‘74 worked on his firm Pentagram’s annual holiday card, which revisits an unlikely collaboration between the Ford Motor Company and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Marianne Moore.
