Scholastic Awards alumni go on to do incredible things! Here are some recent accomplishments and news about notable alums:
- Sri Rao ‘87 created the series The Fame Game, which premiered on Netflix earlier this year. Roa shared, “I couldn’t have gotten here without the boost of confidence that the Scholastic Awards gave me.”
- To mark Juneteenth, poet Amanda Gorman ‘15-’16, read “Fury and Faith,” a poem from her poetry collection Call Us What We Carry on NPR.
- Photography by Richard Avedon ‘41 is included in PACE Gallery’s new exhibition Studio to Stage: Music Photography from the Fifties to the Present. The exhibit runs through August 19, 2022, at PACE Gallery, New York.
- Marc Brown ‘63 was interviewed on Sunday Morning Magazine about the legacy of Arthur, the classic book series and longest-running children’s television show in America. His new book Believe in Yourself: What We Learned from Arthur features more than 60 pieces of all-new artwork.
- Zac Posen ‘98 and Tschabalala Self ‘08 interviewed two 2022 Gold Medal Portfolio Award recipients for this year’s National Ceremony. Watch a recording of the virtual celebration on YouTube.
- Special thanks to Michael Bierut, Lee Connell, and Derek Fordjour for donating books to the Scholastic Awards Benefit Dinner. Copies of How To, The Party Upstairs, and Fordjour were incorporated into the table centerpieces, along with other books authored by alumni of the Awards.
