Works by NYC Teens on Display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The NYC Gold Key Exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens on March 18 and runs until May 22. Works by New York City’s most creative teens will be on display in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, located in the lower level of the Museum.

This exhibition will feature 289 works of art by New York City teens who received the highest regional recognition in the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards—the Gold Key Award. Gold Key writing by NYC teens will be accessible via QR codes for visitors to read digitally.

This year, more than 3,200 students in grades 7–12 submitted close to 11,000 works to the New York City Region of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, encompassing nearly 250 schools in all five boroughs. More than 180 literary and visual arts professionals served as judges, selecting works based on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision.

The NYC Scholastic Awards are administered by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers in collaboration with The New School’s Open Campus, Parsons School of Design, and Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.
