The 2021 National Ceremony will premiere on YouTube on June 9 at 7:00 pm ET. Join us as we celebrate this year’s National Medalists!
Students are the focus of the National Ceremony, and we’ll be showcasing some of their amazing art and writing that received national honors. Works by National Medalists from all over the country will be highlighted along with special segments featuring our scholarship winners and Gold Medal Portfolio Award winners. Be sure to stay for the whole ceremony—you never know whose work will appear next (it might even be yours!).
This year’s ceremony has a special treat at the end for all of our 2021 National Medalists: your names! Students who received National Medals will see their names listed among all of their fellow winners. The names will be in alphabetical order, sorted by state, so have your camera ready to snap a picture of your name when it appears on the screen! (If you miss your name, don’t worry—you can always pause and rewind. That’s just one of the benefits of having a virtual National Ceremony!) We’d love to see your excitement when your name pops up on the screen, so be sure to post your picture on social media and tag @artandwriting. We might even share your picture on our own accounts!
It wouldn’t be a Scholastic Awards National Ceremony without some celebrity guests! This year, we’ll be joined by Sara Bareilles, Kristen Bell, Tituss Burgess, Kelly Clarkson, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and Tschabalala Self in celebrating the 2021 National Medalists. We’re excited to share the heartfelt remarks of our special guests and hope their words of encouragement and enthusiasm for recognizing award-winning teen art and writing inspire you to create something meaningful and original, and that you feel empowered to share your creativity with others.
Like last year’s National Ceremony, the chat will be open! This is your chance to connect with your fellow winners as you watch the celebration of your hard work together. We had a blast in last year’s chat and we can’t wait to see what everyone will be talking about this year.
June 9 will be here before you know it, so be sure to mark your calendars! You won’t want to miss the 2021 National Ceremony.
