We are proud to announce that the Scholastic Awards of New York City’s Regional Exhibition will be held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art! Over 500 pieces of Gold Key art and writing by New York City students will be on display at The Met’s Ruth & Harold D. Uris Center for Education. The exhibition opens on March 16 and will run until May 17, 2015.
To kick-off this year’s exhibition, an Opening Reception will be held in the Uris Center on Friday, March 20, 5:00-7:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public, so if you happen to be in New York City, please stop by! The evening will feature readings by Gold Key Portfolio recipients in writing as well as American Voice nominees. Plus, kids and adults of all ages can join in a special make-and-take art project.
In conjunction with the exhibition, The Met’s Teen Blog will feature seven New York City Gold Key writing recipients as Guest Bloggers through May 17. Be sure to follow along!
Finding a space large enough to hold the exhibition, and a partner who shared the crucial vision of recognizing and encouraging creativity in teens, was no small task. We were fortunate to find both in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and are beyond thrilled to work with this world-renowned museum to display the wonderful art and writing from the 2015 Scholastic Awards of New York City’ regional Gold Key recipients.
Come to The Met to see what New York City’s most creative teens have in store–we promise you’ll be amazed!
