If you have ever wanted to see an artist in process, now is your chance! All week long, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Alumnus, Timothy H. Lee, is transforming the Scholastic Store main display with his artwork as part of the Art.Write.Now.Pop Up residency! From 11am – 7pm each day, Timothy will be creating in front of a public audience, leaving 557 Broadway with a seriously stunning display by the end of the week.
Just yesterday, Timothy took his place at 557 Broadway and brought his new artist’s studio to life for all of SoHo to see. Passers-by stopped to watch the installation process as Timothy set the scene, waiting until he started intricately water painting a new piece. If you can’t stop by and see what’s happening (but we hope you can!) make sure to follow the progress on the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Facebook page. Every day we’ll be adding new images!
With his background in neuroscience and studio art, Timothy creates works that straddle the line of art and science. On top of this, his work is greatly informed by his experience as a Korean-American, as he was born in Seoul and raised in New York City. We are so proud to have Timothy on our long list of remarkable alumni!
This flash residency marks the opening of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Call for Submissions. So spread the word and get involved. Any students in grades 7 through 12 can apply! Check your deadline and submit now!
