Calling all Art Educators! Check out this all-expenses-paid workshop opportunity for art teachers (deadline to apply is THIS Friday, March 15):
Celebrating its 20th year, The Power of Art is a three-day workshop in Washington, D.C. that explores strategies for using art to engage and teach academic skills to students with different learning profiles of strengths and weaknesses. The Power of Art will include direct experience with a variety of learning strategies, tours and workshops at The Lab School, activity-oriented tours of the Smithsonian Institution, and discussions with leaders from the fields of art, art education, special education, and museums. Participants will be encouraged to synthesize and adapt ideas, resources, and activities they encounter during The Power of Art for implementation in their own schools and communities.
The Power of Art is a partnership between The Lab School of Washington, DC and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution.
Hotel accommodations and all meals are provided, from the evening of April 25 through mid-day on April 28. Limited travel funds are available.
Forty attendees will be selected through an application process. Acceptance for The Power of Art is competitive. Appplications are available at labschool.org and are due Friday, March 15, 2013.
