Go see the future of art and writing today!

If you are in Detroit, you must go to Art.Write.Now…right now! The official traveling exhibition of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards has kicked off in Motor City at the College for Creative Studies. More than 100 pieces of art and writing, plus the complete works of the five National Student Poets, are available for all visitors to see, read and experience.

The Art.Write.Now Tour is an important part of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards as it not only shares the brilliant and bold works of our nation’s most creative teens, but it also inspires other students to express their talent and for adults to spread the word to teens in their lives. The tour will be in Detroit until November 3 and then it moves on throughout the country:

  • Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Virginia Beach, VA: Nov. 16 – Dec. 30
  • Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, Kansas City, MO: Jan. 24 – Feb. 22, 2013
  • Fort Worth Library, Fort Worth, TX: March 7 – April 27, 2013

For complete details on the tour, go here. And if you want a sneak peek on the artwork check out this awesome Flickr page. Another pretty amazing aspect of the tour is happening in DC. Year-round, the U.S. Department of Education and the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities have exhibits of Scholastic Award-winning work. You can check out what is on view there here.

Go visit when the tour is near you and don’t forget, the 90th annual call for submissions are now open!
