Sally Baek, our wonderful Exhibitions intern, shares Part 1 of her Photo Essay documenting the installation process as she helps us prepare the ART.WRITE.NOW. National Exhibition in New York City.
My name is Sally Baek. I am 18 years old and go to Parsons The New School for Design. I’m currently a Foundations student and will study Design and Management next year. I submitted work to the Scholastic Awards for the first time as a senior and won the National Portfolio Gold medal (1 individual Gold, 2 individual Silvers and the American Visions Award for the Mid-Carolina Region).
I intern in the Exhibitions department at the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers where I help package and organize student artwork and develop spreadsheets in preparation for the upcoming National Events.
The most interesting thing I’ve learned so far at the Alliance are all of the steps involved in displaying the award-winning artworks at the National Events. I wasn’t aware of the amount of work that goes into the show—unwrapping work, photographing it, measuring it, sending it out to be framed, and making spreadsheets, plus plenty of extra steps as well!
