Maybe YOU Can Get Published, Too…

Reading about Jeanette Anderson and Denise Rickman getting published made us think that maybe it would be good to put together a collection of opportunities for young writers to have their work read by editors.

Remember that each journal recommends that you read an issue before you submit to it. This way, you’ll have a better sense of what kind of work the journal or magazine looks for. You don’t want to waste your time or the editor’s time by submitting to magazines and journals that do not fit your work. By knowing the journal, you’ll have a stronger submission!

This is a work in progress, but here are a few we found:

What Peach Student Journal
The Allegheny Review National Undergraduate Magazine
The Albion Review National Undergraduate Magazine
The Blue Pencil Magazine For Young Writers 12-18
The Sun Magazine
Juked Online & Print Journal
Anderbo Online Literary Journal
Debris Literary/Art Magazine
Fifth Wendesday Literary Journal
Dossier Bi-annual Arts and Culture Journal
The Atlantic Student Writing Competition
BOMB Magazine First Proof Pull-Out Issue
Mslexia Journal of Women’s Writing
Danse Macabre “Literary Buffet”
New Orleans Review Literary Journal
New Letters Magazine of Art & Writing
Meridian Semi-Annual Publication from The University of Virginia

If you know of any journals or publications that accept submissions, please let us know in the comments or send an email to mcboyd@artandwriting.org.

Thanks!
